The Design Exchange
Located in the historic home of the Toronto Stock Exchange, in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, the Design Exchange is Canada’s only museum dedicated to the pursuit of design excellence and the preservation of design heritage. The mandate for the DX is to promote the relevancy and experience of design as a Design Museum. The museum offers exhibitions and programming to cover a large number of disciplines including fashion, architecture, and interior, industrial and digital design while exploring designers, products, projects and themes that reflect popular contemporary culture with a focus on educational experiences for the public. Inviting your guests to experience the Design Exchange is to invite them into an art moderne style of architecture with warm wood and cool marble. There are a number of spaces available at the DX, all of which offer a stunning backdrop for every style of event. A registered non-profit charity, booking an event at the DX supports its exhibitions, talks and public programs as well as the upkeep for this historical building’s grandeur and its continued restoration.
Trading Floor, The Library, Exhibit Hall, Boardroom, Studio
The Trading Floor is the largest space, suited for a 500-guest reception or up to 300 people for a sit down dinner. 40 foot high ceilings and eight murals by Charles Comfort married with the art deco architecture, creates a truly stunning space. The Library is well lit with floor to ceiling windows overlooking King and Bay. Ideal for cocktail receptions, product launches, meetings and presentations, this room fits 50 guests for a reception-style event. The Exhibit Hall is the only hall dedicated to design in North America. It is available for cocktail receptions, with most exhibitions, and it covers the majority of the third floor of the DX. The Boardroom seats 24 and has an extraordinary view of the financial district. With a breakout lounge adjacent, this space suits meetings and receptions alike. The Studio space is on the ground floor and has a capacity for 30 people. It is equipped for presentations and is often used as a breakout room, for short meetings or mini lectures.
